Recovery after cardiac procedures deserves structured monitoring

The first 2–4 weeks after a cardiac procedure are a critical window. Complications are most likely to emerge early — and catching them early makes all the difference in outcome. Yet most patients leave the hospital with only verbal instructions and a vague sense of what to watch for.

This monitor gives structure to your recovery: daily vital sign tracking, a systematic wound assessment log, and a milestone checklist so you know exactly when each activity is cleared. It also includes built-in red flag reference so you always know when to call Dr. Nyange versus when to call 911.

"The patients who recover smoothest after cardiac procedures are the ones who monitor carefully and call me early when something doesn't look right. A wound that's caught on day 3 is a very different situation from one caught on day 10."

Common Questions

What procedures is this designed for?
This tracker is designed for outpatient and short-stay cardiac procedures: cardiac catheterization (diagnostic), coronary stenting/PCI, catheter ablation (for AFib and other arrhythmias), electrical cardioversion, loop recorder implantation, and PICC/central line procedures. It is not designed for open-heart surgery recovery.
When should I start logging?
Start logging the day you arrive home from the procedure. Even if you feel well, establishing the baseline on day 1 makes subsequent comparisons more meaningful.
What does "access site condition" mean?
The access site is where the catheter was inserted — typically the right wrist (radial access) or groin (femoral access). Log the size of any bruising or swelling, and note if it's changing. The wound assessment sheet has a full reference for what's normal vs. concerning.
